Three-and-a-half hours later...

I made my Christmas cake today. See here for the whole story!

It won't have any marzipan for another month, yet, and it won't have icing until Christmas Eve, but I'll keep its progress posted.

Looks delicious! I made mine recently too, on 3rd Nov. Only problem is that I keep being tempted to cut into it!

Mmmmmm. I really enjoyed all of that. I felt as if making the cake, loved the photos. They looked so clean and pretty too, no mess. And no washing up for me. And then I enjoyed the licking the bowl and cake with no Weightwatcher points used up. Perfect way to make and have a cake.

Could we do some others? How about scones and jam? And what else is nice to have for Christmas tea....trifle?

And I've got some nice plums and was remembering a Austrian dish, plum dumplings - zwetchken knoedel, that I love. But can't have.
:)

This electronic cooking and eating is great!

My mother always fed her cakes with brandy - what's your "maturer" of choice?

I tend to favour Jamaican rum - the golden kind not the dark treacly kind and heaven forfend that I should use Bacardi!

Rum also goes into rum sauce for the pudding, and delicious Cumberland-style rum butter to go with anything you fancy - toast, cake, just a fingerful!
