Mushrooms

I found these fungi growing in the grass verge in Strathaird Avenue, Walney - almost opposite the house where I lived as a baby.

Does anybody know what species they are? They look rather beautiful.

They look like sulphur tuft (Hypholoma fasciculare), but I'd need to flip them over to be sure!

There's so many different mushrooms and toadstools around at the moment - s'great innit?!

Well, they're not what I thought they were, that's for certain - but a little googling would cponfirm your identification http://tinyurl.com/y8a3ec.

I thought they were what we used to call orange fatties, but that might have been a local name I suppose.

If they were sulphur tuft and I flipped them over, what would I see?

Gills should be very pale and should leave a brown/purple spore print. If you pick one it should have a mild iodine smell to it. Just don't eat it!
