A Perfect Day
Sep. 7th, 2006 12:29 pmNo, unlike Lou's song this isn't about noxious substances.
Today is the perfect antidote to yesterday's wobbly (which I'm sure is down to financial anxiety leading up to the launch of SWIM (South Walney Information Management) as a cash-flow crisis takes hold.)
The sun is shining; it's not hot but it's warm enough to go out in a short-sleeved t-shirt; the tide is high (and will go on getting higher until the exceptional high tide in the small hours of Sunday morning. On the beach the air is clear enough to count the sheep on Black Combe and to see the full length of the Isle of Man, and there's enough of a breeze to whip up the waves that crash on the pebbles.
I loved sitting and enjoying the restless energy of the waves under the sun. It's days like this that make me so glad I moved up here.

Learning French
Sep. 7th, 2006 03:38 pmI've just had my head chewed off in Another Place for wondering why British people are so bad at speaking French when they all learn French at school.
