It being a Wednesday when there isn't a Reading Writers in the evening, it was Roadrunners instead .

The thing about Roadrunners is that it's communal and under the supervision of a trainer (or trainers - my Beginners group is run by Jackie, Kathy and Pete - and they push you harder than you would push yourself on your own.

The downside is that running round the track at Palmer Park Stadium, although it's fast and flat and as good a surface as you can find, is mind-numbingly tedious. There's also big hairy beasts of runners who are very fast and who have no manners so they cut you up. A favourite trick is two of these clowns passing you, one on either side, shaviong both shoulders.

It was also cold - the surface of the high-jump area where we do our warm-ups was getting quite icy - and damp, and my asthma was playing up, so it wasn't the easiest of evenings.

All the same, I managed twelve steady laps plus eight lots of 200 metre reps. So a useful workout.

I feel like shit, to be honest. I need a good sleep.
