À outrance
Dec. 23rd, 2005 03:23 pmI went out along the river today. It's the first time I've been down there for quite a while - so long in fact that a windmill has sprouted down the Basingstoke Road since I did it last. But it hasn't rained for a little while so the tracks weren't going to be too muddy.
What I set out to do was reps of five minutes jogging and five minutes running hard, like it says in the book. It didn't work out that way as I'm clearly not all that fit yet. The warm-up and first five minutes jog went fine, but then the first hard run had to peter out after only two minutes, and the second one only lasted one minute. So I reverted to a plan of my own.
Actually I was only supposed to be doing two of the fast fives, but in the end I changed to a pattern of one minute walking, three minutes jogging and one minute fast running, which I repeated six times.
I may not be as fit as I thought, and I was knackered when I finished, but it was a good workout and I'm still feeling the high. It's got me through quite a bit of writing this afternoon.
